His hat reminds me of the old Indian Army hats. The original owner’s Daughter claimed it was Chinese because they got it in China in 1958. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is Chinese. Only there looks like there are light cracks on his arms, but our expert believes the arms (& possibly the drum) were added later.
